Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)

APAAR ID

The APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) provides every student with a unique and lifelong academic identity. It enables seamless tracking of academic progress and securely links all earned credits to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).

Credit points earned from recognised institutions are digitally stored, allowing accumulation, transfer, redemption and reuse of credits in accordance with UGC guidelines, thereby supporting academic mobility and the multiple entry–exit framework under NEP 2020.

Earned Credits and Credit Points

Earned credits represent verified learning outcomes achieved by students through courses, programmes, or approved learning platforms. These credits, quantified as credit points, ensure standardization, transparency, and flexibility in higher education, promoting lifelong learning and inter-institutional recognition.

Enumeration, DigiLocker and Digitisation

The enumeration process is integrated with DigiLocker, where students’ academic documents—such as admissions data, marksheets, degrees, and certificates—are digitally stored and authenticated. Universities upload verified records directly to DigiLocker and link them with the APAAR ID, ensuring secure access, authenticity, reduced paperwork, and efficient digitisation of academic records across the higher education ecosystem.
